But literally last year, I have heard a lot of women say, I just can't seem to get ahead.  And going back to your question, that's exactly what it is. There have a lack mentality.  Because one, you're speaking it right? Like, I just can't seem to get ahead, which may be your truth, but start to think and start to speak what you want to see.

Yeah. As if it already happened.  And so one of the things that I encourage people to do is to sit down, And create, like literally write down  where you want to be or how you see your life in the next five years.  And like, write down, like, don't think anything is out of, you know, the, the spectrum, like write down whatever that is.

And then after you write that down,  read it out loud.  And then from there, write down five things that you value. Okay. Okay. Whether it's people, places, or things. And one of the things though, what you're going to see when you truly sit down and think about those five values,  it's not going to be money related.

Most of it will be family,  possibly career,  faith.  So things like that. And so once you do that.  You start to put in practice to believe that, to see that, to speak those things every day. And then once you do that, how do you align that with your managing your day to day finances? Hi,  my name is Gabby Ramelli and I'm your boundary advocate to lead you to a more peaceful life.

Four years ago, I was stuck in a deep depression, a fog covered lake in the dead of night with no idea of where to turn to get back to me or my own needs. com forward slash blissfully bold  Today on the show we have Darnisha Beeler, a powerhouse transformational coach and financial industry leader. With over 24 years of experience in financial services  as a certified health, life and financial fitness coach for the past three years, Darnisha has made it her mission to guide women toward financial freedom, emotional healing, and thriving futures.

Darnisha's unique approach blends her extensive financial expertise with a focus on mindset and emotional wellbeing. She empowers women to align their finances with their values. Embrace clarity and step into confidence. When you work with Darnisha, you're not just learning strategies, you're creating a transformational shift that impacts every corner of your life.

This conversation with Darnisha went so deep into how emotional well being is a foundation for financial freedom. Like we're not just talking spreadsheets and budgets, we're talking about shifting your money mindset to reject scarcity and welcome abundance.  One of the biggest eye openers for me was figuring out cash flow and what you really need in your emergency fund, whether you're single or you're in a marriage, a partnership, whatever.

And I loved all the empowerment Darnisha stands for. She's all about women taking control of their well being and finances, which, let's 2025. So without further ado. Here's Darnisha. Hey Darnisha, welcome to the show. Thank you so much for coming. Um, I like to kick off the show with asking a question. And I always ask, what makes you kick ass?

So, I want to know, what makes you kick ass at leading women to find financial freedom and emotional well being?  What makes me kick ass? So, I would say, you know, just, just my internal passion. So, the things that I've personally been through to get to where I'm at today, seeing women being able to achieve that type of emotional freedom, that makes me kick ass.

Nice, I love that. So what does emotional freedom look like to you? So emotional freedom looks like to me have an internal peace Being in a place where you love your authentic self and you don't care About anybody's opinion when it comes to you doing the things that brings you joy And you know just living the life that you were destined and created to live That's what emotional freedom means.

I love that. I love that. And it sounds like you're living that by doing this coaching, right? And helping other women find that. And I was reading up on you before,  before you came on the show, cause I like to do prep work and just kind of get to learn my guests, right?  And I saw that your story starts in 2020 and I feel like a lot of our stories start there just because it's like, We had the space to actually like what do we want and ask ourselves and really like sit and think about it So what brought you to this work in 2020?

Like what was going on? And then I know that you also have a background in finance You're a bank manager, right? And you've been doing that for a long time. So tell me what's your story?  So my story is, so first of all, yes, I've been in the financial industry this year in March will make 26 years. So I, yeah, finances pull on my heartstrings by the way.

And yeah,  uh, 2020, January 1st, I had a friend, uh, that I actually grew up with. We were friends for over 30 years, uh, committed suicide.  And so  that was a hard pill to swallow. So, um, that happened March COVID happened.  And at the time I was a bank manager, uh, where I had a direct reports of about, I think I had about 18 employees that I directly managed and I had to come to work every day on the front lines, you know, as a new central worker and to try to cover a facade that.

I'm really depressed from my friend's death or passing or suicide. Um, I still don't know what the heck is going on with this COVID and. Not really knowing how to, uh, filter my emotions. So then April happened, which by the way,  I grew up with a single mom. So it's four of us, uh, have three other siblings and in April, my grandfather, who's my mom's dad passed away from COVID  by this time, I gained like 40 something pounds because you know, not eating properly, stress, depressed, and at the time I didn't know I was actually depressed.

Cause in the black community, um, especially like growing up with a strong mom, like how I did at old school, we didn't talk about depression and, um, you know, therapists and things like that. And so I, I knew something was wrong with me, but I didn't know I was actually going into a depression.  And so, um, I knew I wanted more.

I didn't like feeling the way I felt. I would come home every day, sit on the couch, not talk to my husband, not really talk to my kids. It was just horrible. Yeah. Um, I wasn't happy. I, and I was hurting inside and I didn't know how to fix it. And everybody would tell me, you know, pray, pray, pray. And I will pray.

And so I do believe the Lord led me to the health coach Institute school. That's where I got certified as a life. It actually, I had a dual certification life and health coach. Um, and then after that, I actually got certified as a financial fitness coach. Um, and so through that process, I did a lot of inner work, deeply working on myself, um, and I started to feel better.

Then I met with the therapist, I met with the nutrition. I actually lost over 50 something pounds throughout that process. And then bam, uh, 2021 came. fully certified. Um, and then I was like, I want women to feel  what I feel,  but it's a process and you got to do the inner work. You got to work on yourself.

And so that's how Darnisha B coaches service. Came about yeah, I love that. I love that so much and I feel That I have a very similar story Like I feel like like I said everyone's story seems to start with covid and I I love it Honestly, like I love that covid was just kind of a reset button and you can only see that now like in hindsight five years later  But I do I feel like there was so much growth That came out of that time, even though it was scary and there was a lot of  Tragedy or things that were sad because like I also felt that overwhelmed feeling I also had loved ones that passed from covid and it just Like I said, it was a reset button, and I'm glad that you could use that experience now to help your clients.

So, how do you work with your clients and use your experience to teach them, one, financial fitness, but also to be, like, emotionally well?  Yeah, I love that question. So right now, the way I help my clients,  so I have scaled down to three, one-on-one clients, which now I'm looking more to do group coaching.

Hmm. However, the, the current two clients that I do have, and the way that I'm helping them is really digging into that mental state. Yeah. Because that's how it, it starts with mental, your mental behavior. Yeah. Uh, your, your mentality when it comes to being mentally healthy. Um, in order to dig into the financial health and so in order to do that, you gotta bring out that emotional health, help me bring out that emotional health.

And so I, I really dig into one there. Why, like, why, why do you want to work with me? Like, why did you decide to work with me? Yeah. And then two, I want to understand their motivating factors to accomplish this work. Now that's digging into that emotional state.  And how do you align? Well, I helped them and find out how are we aligning their values?

With what they truly want to live, breathe and sleep. So I'm not sure if you've seen it, but I go by five pillars and these are things that have helped me get emotional freedom is focusing on, and it's the five Fs. And these are my five pillars. I live, sleep, breathe by. If you look at my social media, you'll see something around.

One of these five F's that I live and breathe. And so one is family. I really love my family. I love being around my family. I love family support, connection, relationships. It's so important. Uh, fitness,  we got to focus on our fitness when it comes to, uh, our health. So your financial health, your physical health, your mental health, you've got to get into that physical state where you're moving your body.

Eat and nutritionally, uh, fun.  You gotta have fun. Like you got to enjoy life. You have to, you got to find what motivates you. You got to find what brings you joy, but also with that, you got to know what depletes your energy.  And then faith, everything I do. And during that time in 2020, I actually got closer to the Lord.

Um, which it really made me look at people and think about things differently and really look at the lens of, um, of my perspective from a people standpoint as, um, everybody's trying their best  and if you look at things that way and know that too, everybody has a good intention  and if you look at that, the way you treat people and the way you handle people will be different.

And then lastly is finances. And so people may say, Oh my gosh, Dargeesha, you've been in finances forever. That's what you love. Yeah, I do love it. Now, by the way, I didn't always love math. And actually I won't say I technically love math, but I love finances. And what that means is being, uh, I call it having a life of prosperity.

So not necessarily saying that you're rich cause I'm not rich, but guess what, I do have financial freedom. Because I'm emotionally free, so I have a mindset of abundance. And so, you know, when I do good for the world, good comes back to me. And everything that I want is at my fingertips, and I know I can get it.

And so, I truly live by those five, five F's. Uh, which is my pillars. And so with doing that, it gives me emotional freedom.  Ah, that's awesome. So you're talking about, you know, the mindset, right. Around, you know, getting your finances right. And your five F's. And I feel that something that comes up very often.

In people learning to do finances or just not learning just in general and they don't even know it is that they have This scarcity mindset of like, oh, I don't have enough money or I can't do this because I don't have x amount And how can people begin to get out of that mindset? Like you talked about having a more prosperous or prosperity Kind of oriented thought process then like oh, no, I can't afford these things  Oh, I love that question because that is it.

That's how, you know, I hear a lot of women and which kind of like the Lord was like, you need to create, you need to, uh, create this retreat and help these women. But literally last year I have heard a lot of women say, I just can't seem to get ahead.  And going back to your question, that's exactly what it is.

There have a lack mentality.  Because one, you're speaking it right. Like, I just can't seem to get ahead, which may be your truth, but start to think and start to speak what you want to see  as if it already happened.  And so one of the things that I encourage people to do is to sit down and create, like literally write down  where you want to be or how you see your life.

In the next five years  and like, write down, like, don't think anything is out of, you know, the, the spectrum, like write down whatever that is. And then after you write that down,  read it out loud.  And then from there, write down five things that you value.  Okay, whether it's people places or things and one of the things though what you're going to see when you truly sit down and think about those five values  is not going to be money related.

Most of it will be family.  Possibly career  faith.  So things like that. And so once you do that,  you start to put in practice to believe that to see that to speak those things every day. And then once you do that, how do you align that with your managing your day to day finances? So that's how I start. And that's how I would love for people to start thinking about Um, and I think it's really important for people to think about their lives when it comes to financial, being financially healthy and then also emotionally healthy.

Right. And there's another question that I like to ask myself because right now I feel like I'm in that mix of like getting my finance story like right or not right but like what works for me and like what kind of mindset I need to be in and something that has been working. That I really liked as far as the lack mindset and like the prosperity Aspect is asking yourself instead of saying I don't have enough money for XYZ you ask yourself How can I get enough money or how can I make the money or how can I do XYZ because then you're like Solution oriented and it doesn't feel as much as like a victim kind of State and I know that people get triggered where it's like, I'm not a victim  but  Um, I don't know you're you're choosing your thoughts is all I have to say No, I love that.

And that's so true. And that's what I tell people. So to, exactly to your point, like a lot of people say, I'm broke. Don't speak that.  Just, let's change the paradigm. Let's change the perspective, right? And say,  I don't have the money now, but I'm gonna figure out how to get it. Cause what that does, you start to tell your brain, The frontal cortex, you start to tell your brain, I need to find solutions.

I need to find how to make this work. And your brain is going to start to figure that out and provide resources to you versus to your point where you are saying, I can't do this. I can't afford it. Well, you're not, you're telling your brain, like it shut out everything else. Yeah. But when you say I'm a figure out how to afford this, um, it, you start to think about resources and then.

Because you have a, uh, an abundance mindset and you're speaking positivity and life into yourself,  the universe is just going to start bringing things to you. You're going to start thinking about resources and options you never thought ever. Let me tell you this. So one day, well, one time I looked to join a mastermind and  Hey, I got to practice this and continue to work on myself because it's a journey when it comes to your financial health, right?

Um,  I was in, I was trying to join the mastermind and it wasn't cheap.  And I did say to myself, like, I don't know how the hell I'm going to afford this. Then I start, I clicked it. I was like, uh uh Darnisha, take that out. Like, you're going to figure out how to afford this. And so I spoke that out loud. And guess what?

Things just start coming to me. I ended up signing two new clients. I end up like, it was just crazy. Like things just started to come and I was like, look at the Lord. Like, look at how this happened. Mm hmm. Yeah. No, I feel like I have a similar story like I was looking to get into this marketing program and i'm like  I don't  Can't afford that like I don't have the money right now and I was like nope Like she's giving you an option.

There's a payment plan for a year Like when you break it down, i'm sure you can figure out how to afford this amount each month For the year and so I was like, I'm gonna do it. I don't have the money right now I'm gonna put it on a credit card and I'm gonna figure it out and like my dad Like when he can't because this was right before christmas.

He like just came and like not even before christmas I think it was in thanksgiving and he just like gifted me the exact amount like without me knowing I didn't tell him what I was doing. It was just so happened to be the exact amount that I needed for that first month's payment. And I was like, perfect.

I love it.  That is so awesome. Actually, I think you talked about that on one of our powerhouse calls.  Oh, oh, I did actually now that you say that I see I forget where I tell stories

But you're right I did I did I do remember that because I remember people in the chat being like off to call my dad  So good  Yeah, I love that. Okay. So we're talking about working on your money mindset and you actually have a couple Of resources or programs that help women start to do that, right? So, can you tell me more about what prosperity pioneers is?

That sounds really fun I love that and then for the more practical the 90 day like, you know Oh, this is structured 90 days and we're gonna work on my mindset. Can you tell me about both of those? Absolutely. So the Prosperity Pioneers is more of, that's part of my group coaching program that I launch every May.

It is a six month program where we go through, you know, different sections and different topics each month. We meet twice a month. Uh, one, uh, Out of the six months, we meet in person for VIP day, where we get the intimate group together, some place intimate, in a nice location where we kind of put everything all together that we discuss.

So we do start from values. We do a lot of inner work. Uh, we hold each other accountable and kind of do mastermind groups. Um, but it really starts with getting that emotional, uh, becoming emotional healthy. So learning what, uh, brings, brings us joy, uh, learning what depletes our energy. So it's really helping my clients or participants that's in the program, uh, learning that we can change behavior from other people.

You can inspire behavior, but we can't change people. And so we do a lot of exercises and the work throughout the program to learn how to be okay. With one being our authentic selves. Yeah, because that's what gives you emotional freedom And then and it also it gives you peace Um and knowing you can't change people So we do a lot of that inner work and then we work on the practical steps of becoming financially healthy  So like budgeting Savings that type of thing.

Yeah, I love that. It's a group program because You can like see where other people are and you're not feeling quite so alone and you know, sometimes you are having the same kind of thought process and the whole let them book y'all can like read it together as a book Club and like kind of bounce you on each other's ideas.

I love that I love that so much and that you have the tools to Like have budget planning you actually created a planner, right? Which is really really cool because I love planners like I have calendars on the wall. I have a paper planner. I have a digital planner.  Like it's Kind of ridiculous, but I love planning.

So tell me more about your planner  So with a planner, um, it is a holistic planner Again going around my five pillars. Um, so it kind of teaches people how to plan out These aspects of their lives. So it gives you tactable and actionable steps that you can create throughout, throughout your life or throughout your, and it is intended to be monthly.

Yeah. And so, um, it has action items that will one, it has the activities and the tips and tricks that you can do. Also has motivation, uh, motivation quotes that I feel is important. To keep you motivated throughout, you know, you working on these things, but it actually gives you spaces where you can plan these actionable tips or activities, um, to become, so for instance, one section is a financial health section, and so it tells you about like, if you're, Issue is to become debt free.

So it has a section in there on steps that you can do to start to become debt free. So in the spaces, the blank spaces and the planner, it gives you day to day theme, well, a space, so you can write down your, how you're going to plan to do it and make that happen based off these tips or activities that I recommended for you to do.

And then so forth like with savings, um, because we talk about a lot of women, by the way, we get to a point in our lives because we're so busy. We so overworked. We kind of leave things for us such as building wealth, uh, to the back burner, or we just don't know how.  And so, uh, a statistic came out that 40 percent of Americans do not have at least 400 for unexpected expense.

And so if we think about. Um, it talks about building wealth. If we think about, you know, building businesses, we got to have some type of emergency fund. So how, how do you start? How do you get there? And so my planner actually helped with different of those aspects and not only just financial health, right?

But it talks about physical health. It talks about mental health. So that way, holistically, because one doesn't go without the other.  So if you become physically fit, a lot of times you're struggling in a finances area. Uh, and then vice versa. So you were talking about, uh, your planner helping with savings, right?

And I think that when people start thinking about finances and budgeting, that's one of the first things that people start thinking about is like, oh, savings! But like, there's more to it than just savings. But for the person who's like, I'm getting started and I want to like, save more, like, how would you go about telling people to save?

For like what their daily expenses are or for their actual savings account or investment accounts because  As I've been learning also on my journey is like there are different buckets basically, right? So, can you illuminate  that a little bit more for us?  Absolutely. So number one, I feel people should start with at least a 400.

And so, but you may say, how do we start Darnisha? How do we do that? So number one is understanding your cash flow.  How do you understand your cash flow? Know exactly what income that's coming in.  And it's regular income, right? So that's number one. Then understand your expenses. What does it truly take for you to live?

So once you understand your income, so income minus expenses, Gives you your cashflow. Okay. From there, you need to pay yourself first.  So before you do anything else, right? So before you try to put money aside for savings, whatever, uh, that paying yourself first will be that 10 percent of what you have.

Now from there is being very realistic. And I tell people to incorporate the SMART goal acronym. Okay. So, and this is to really help you motivate yourself and also, uh, hold you accountable to save it at least that 400  because also financial wisdom tells us that a married person with children should have at least six to eight months of their expenses saved.

And a single person should have at least three to six months.  Okay, I hadn't heard that aspect where it's like singled versus married. That's a good, good one.  But let's just roll it back for that person that's trying to save, right? And to get that, that unexpected expense of 400, right? Mm hmm. So,  write down, again, the SMART acronym.

So be very specific. Why are you even doing this? What are you trying to save for?  And then write down your measurement. So the M,  how are you going to measure that? It, which it should be the 400, right? The A is aligned.  It got to be aligned with your current situation, like your priorities and those types of things.

R is realistic. What you're saying you're going to do, is it realistic? Does it make sense for your situation?  And then T is time bound. I always tell people go without a date is just a dream. Okay. And so if you do not put a date to your goals, you're going to just constantly dream and dreaming is great.

Like I love Disneyland. I love magical. I love all those things,  but you got to put a goal to your date. I mean, you know, date to your goal. And so have a smart format and then that's how you can start working on it. And I tell people, cause I'm a strong believer in small habit changes leads to major impact, big changes.

That's awesome. So you actually have an upcoming event, right? Will you be teaching any of these finance things, or is it kind of more of the holistic approach and just really. meeting other women who will be like you, who are like minded and just really getting into that community. Tell us more about your upcoming event.

So the retreat is called Empower and Elevate Retreat. Um, it is for women. It's during Women's History Month. I did that on purpose. Oh, I love that. It is to uplift and elevate, uh, women from where they're at today and empower them to do more and be the bosses that they want to be.  Centered around my five pillars.

So I'll have four speakers. One speaker will speak around faith and how connecting with your relationships matter. I'll have someone, uh, speaking about a fitness, which actually would be real debt Dixon, who's part of our powerhouse community.

I will be speaking about, uh, financial prosperity. So that's my topic. Okay. Um, and then I have another person to speak about, uh, so like about wellness and nutrition, um, and how you can incorporate a, a good nutritional lifestyle with being a busy working mom or woman. Yeah, that's really important. I think that because you're busy and sometimes you just kind of grab and go and sometimes the things that you Grab and go with are crap  Correct  So, I love that I love that someone's gonna be there to help kind of reel that in and really get women to think about like planning ahead and just Being more nutritionally well because I've I have found that when you are giving your body the nutrients that it needs or what it actually craves as far as like being well and Functioning the way that it should like diet and not diet as in like i'm gonna go on a diet but lifestyle diet  It's so important.

So I love that. That's going to be something that's incorporated as well as the finances because  It's January. Everybody's like, money and fitness. Money fitness.  And it's true. I feel all of those things we all need to become emotionally healthy. And so, um, it will be March the 7th in Palm Springs, California.

Awesome. Um, it is an all day event. I'm super excited. I've been pouring my heart into this event.  I'm just I'm so excited. Yeah, the tickets are available now. They're on sale. I'm actually I was thinking how can I support Gabby's community? And so what I would love to do is provide you with a discount code link where your Once this is aired and I did see I believe it's gonna be air like on a 22nd.

Yeah  I'll have a link available for your Listeners to join the retreat at a discounted price with a link. I said I was gonna name the discount code  Blissfully bold  Awesome  So I'll, I'll provide it to you so you can actually send out to, and the link, uh, when you announce the podcast. For sure. I'll add all of that in the show notes, um, along with your other offers and just your information in general, where people can connect with you.

So thank you so much Darnisha for joining me today. It was a really great conversation. And Yeah. I think we could go on and on about money mindset  and wellness, but I know you have to get to things. So thank you again. Appreciate it. Thank you so much. This was a great conversation.  Okay. Wow. This was such a good episode.

I loved when Darnisha broke down how emotional wellbeing ties directly into financial freedom and the part about figuring out your cashflow and emergency fund. Hello. Hello. Hello. Where was that advice when I was Googling how to adult? In my 20s it was so clear and actionable and I love that too  Also the whole concept of shifting your mindset to call in abundance and reject that lack mentality That's some good stuff right there.

It's not just about numbers It's about your relationship with money and honestly who couldn't use a little mindset makeover in that department  I hope you loved this conversation as much as I did. I feel like if you take what Darnisha shared and pair it with episode 10 about boundaries and belonging and episode 16 on navigating work life balance and mental health, you'll have the ultimate toolkit for building a life that feels good and aligned to your goals, just like Darnisha was talking about.

So here's what I want you to do.  Hit me up on Instagram at gavi. ramaylee and let me know what your biggest takeaway was. Are you going to revisit your emergency fund plan? Maybe start journaling about abundance? I'd love to hear it.  And if you are going to start journaling, head over to the show notes to get the link for your free copy of the Daily Planner for the Overthinking High Achiever, where there is dedicated space for microjournaling.

Alright, that's all I've got for you today. I'll catch you next week.  So something I've been working on and I'm super excited about is the 5 day microjournaling challenge audio series. Um, I did a challenge back in November, and this is going to be a version of that, but it's going to be available to you any time.

So you don't have to wait for me to put on a live event. You can just go and be like, Oh, I feel like I really want to start a journaling practice, but I don't know where to start. I don't have time for that. Like, I'm a busy mom. I just got laid off. Tons of shit to do all the time. Well, go and do this five day microjournaling challenge.

I know that you're probably thinking, like, journaling, I just said I don't have time. But literally, this, like, builds it into your day. Someone was talking to me the other day about building white space into their schedule to have time to think and just kind of unwind, decompress. Well, microjournaling is building that white space into your day.

Every day  you just literally write down whatever it is that you're thinking you don't even have to think about what you want to write You just write what you're thinking  which  Sounds easy  and it is easy like whenever you get a thought instead of going to your notes app in your phone Just say Just write it down on the daily planner sheet and you can download that.

I have the link in the show notes for you. Thanks again for listening and visit buy me a coffee at buymeacoffee. com forward slash blissfully bold podcast for another way to support the show. And I will also link that in the show notes.
